Emergency services were called to Palmerston Road just after 7.30am on Tuesday, December 24, following reports of a crash involving a pedestrian and a car.
A woman in her 60s died at the scene.
The road was closed for several hours while emergency crews and investigators worked at the site.
On Monday, December 30, police arrested three people in connection with the incident.
These included a 20-year-old man from Loughton, a 17-year-old boy from Dagenham, and a 16-year-old boy from Chingford.
They were arrested on suspicion of offences including causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop at the scene.
The 20-year-old has been released on bail until March 13, while the two teenagers have been bailed until March 14.
Detective Sergeant Sam Nason said: “My thoughts continue to be with the family of the woman who died in this incident and they are being supported by specialist officers.
“We are continuing to appeal for information about the collision and what led up to it.
“In particular, I need anyone who saw or has footage of a grey Jaguar XJ around the time of the collision in Buckhurst Hill and Chingford.”
