Officers from the Metropolitan Police were called on January 23 with reports of racially or religiously aggravated criminal damage to a building in Brydges Road.
Despite the incident being reported on January 23, it is believed the damage was inflicted overnight.
Photos shared online have captured black graffiti written on the front of the place of worship, stating: “Stop Islam”.
Enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the criminal damage are ongoing and there have been no arrests made at this stage.

A Met spokesperson said: “Police received a report of racially or religiously aggravated criminal damage to a building on Brydges Road, E15.
“The offence was reported on Thursday, 23 January and believed to have occurred overnight.
“Enquiries remain ongoing and no arrests have been made at this stage.”
