From March 19, 2025, several key roads will be affected, with closures, diversions, parking restrictions, and temporary one-way systems in place.
The works are part of an ongoing effort to improve road conditions and will take place at various points within an 18-month period.
However, there is no fixed schedule for when each individual road will be closed, meaning disruption could occur at any time.
What restrictions will be in place?
While work is carried out, the following measures will apply:
Road closures – Some streets will be completely closed to traffic when necessary.
No parking or waiting – Vehicles cannot be left on affected roads, and any parked in restricted areas may be removed.
One-way systems – Temporary changes to traffic flow may be introduced.
Diversions – Traffic will be rerouted via alternative local streets.
Emergency access maintained – Emergency services will still be able to reach properties.
The council has stated that access to homes and businesses will be maintained where possible, but delays and inconvenience should be expected.
Which roads will be affected?
A number of roads across the borough will be impacted at various points during the 18-month period, including:
- Bromley: East Street, Elmfield Road, High Street, Market Square, Widmore Road
- Beckenham: Court Downs Road
- Chislehurst: Albany Road
- Orpington: Chelsfield Road, Station Road
- Hayes: Prestons Road, West Common Road
- West Wickham: Woodland Way
- Not all roads will be closed at the same time, and works may not take place on every road immediately.
How to check for specific road closures?
As the works progress, specific dates and closures will be confirmed.
