The London Borough of Bromley has announced the closures will affect Styles Way and Wickham Way in Beckenham, starting from Monday, March 24.
The closure order, which falls under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, allows for a maximum duration of 18 months, although no specific end date for the works has been given.
The council has issued a public notice detailing the restrictions that will be imposed to allow Virgin Media to carry out the maintenance works.
The notice states that no vehicles will be allowed to wait or proceed in the affected streets until the works are completed.
The same applies to any other streets adjacent to those specified, as indicated by traffic signs.
Vehicles found waiting in contravention of this order will be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986.
The council also reserves the right to remove such vehicles under its conferred powers.
Traffic will be redirected via local streets as necessary, with the notice stating that the prohibitions will not apply to cul-de-sacs.
The one-way working rule will also be enforced, meaning vehicles will only be permitted to proceed in the direction indicated by traffic signs.
The council has assured residents that access to properties will be maintained as far as practicable from either side of the closure.
Routes for emergency access and egress will be upheld at all times.
The restrictions, however, will not apply to vehicles used in connection with the works or to activities carried out with the permission or direction of a police officer in uniform or a traffic warden.
The council has advised residents with queries regarding the works to contact the council’s environmental services department.
The temporary closure order is part of the council’s efforts to ensure the completion of essential ducting and telecoms maintenance work by Virgin Media.
The works are expected to improve the quality of telecom services in the area.
Virgin Media has been a key player in the UK’s telecommunications industry, providing broadband, TV, and mobile services.
The maintenance work is part of the company’s routine operations to keep its infrastructure in good condition and ensure uninterrupted service delivery.
Residents are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and be prepared for potential disruptions during the maintenance period.
The council is working closely with Virgin Media to ensure the works are completed as swiftly as possible, minimising inconvenience to residents.
