The penalties were detailed in the government’s quarterly report on Illegal Working Civil Penalties, which lists UK employers who received fines between July 1 and September 30, 2024.
The report was published on February 28, 2025.
The businesses penalised include Ganesha Restaurant, operated by Ganesha Bromley Ltd, located at 435 Bromley Road, Bromley, which received a fine of £45,000.
Also named in the report is British Fried Chicken, run by Britiss Fried Chicken Ltd, based at 295 Upper Elmers End Road, Beckenham, which was fined £40,000.

Under government regulations, employers can be fined if they fail to carry out proper right-to-work checks on employees.
Businesses may be penalised if they had reason to believe a worker did not have legal permission to work in the UK, whether due to expired leave, work restrictions, or false documents.
The Home Office warns that employers who knowingly hire illegal workers can face up to five years in prison and unlimited fines.
These civil penalties are part of the government’s broader effort to enforce immigration compliance and hold businesses accountable for breaking employment laws.
