The Broadway Theatre, in Barking, shut in January 2024 after a building survey discovered the presence of reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (RAAC) at the theatre.
At the time, the venue only planned to reschedule shows until the end of the following month – but a year later it remains closed.
In a statement on Facebook, The Broadway made the announcement about the continued closure “with regret”.
The post said: “It is with regret that we must announce the cancellation of all future performances and events at The Broadway, Barking due to the venue’s ongoing closure.
“We will contact any remaining ticket holders to arrange refunds.
“We thank you for your continued support of The Broadway during this challenging period.”
The Broadway cancelled its Christmas pantomime, but previously hoped it would be back open this year, saying in its December update that “we can’t wait to raise our curtain and welcome you back in 2025”.
The venue had been “unable to commence” remedial work to remove the RAAC in the building up until September last year.
It is not yet clear whether the remedial work is now underway.
The Broadway has been contacted for comment.
