The Primrose Hill resident is chatting to actor and comedian Helen Atkinson Wood about ‘creating an icon’ as part of the Primrose Hill lectures on November 12.
Five days later, a statue of the loveable rom-com heroine – played by Renee Zellweger in all four movies – will be unveiled in central London.
Zellweger is tipped to appear at the ceremony alongside co-star Sally Phillips, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Leo Woodall, who played men vying for Bridget’s affections in the most recent instalment: Mad About the Boy.
The latest hit film was largely shot around Hampstead and Hampstead Heath last summer.

Posting on Instagram Fielding wrote: “A Bridget Jones statue in Leicester Square! Whatever next? Time to raise a glass to being ‘just as we are’. Hope statue’s Mummy Pants are up to the job .”
Bridget will join other icons immortalised in bronze in the square which traditionally hosts red carpet movie premieres.
Statues of Indiana Jones, Harry Potter, Paddington Bear, Mary Poppins and Batman are already in situ as part of Westminster Council’s Scenes in the Square initiative.

Fielding first introduced the world to the calorie-counting singleton in her column in The Independent in 1995. It became a successful book Bridget Jones Diary, then a 2001 film starring Hugh Grant and Colin Firth.
Eric Fellner, co-founder of Working Title which produces the Bridget Jones franchise told Deadline’s Baz Bamigboye he’s delighted one of their most loved characters is getting a statue – and called Bridget a “proper London heroine.”
Helen Fielding’s event at St Mary’s Church in Elsworthy Road Primrose Hill will include a book signing, drinks and nibbles, with proceeds from the tickets going towards the church’s outreach activities.
The talk starts at 7pm on November 12. Tickets cost £15 or £10 concessions and are available from www.eventbrite.co.uk
