Footage shared online shows the moment that the officer was hit, and it is believed to have been filmed in Brandon Road on Tuesday (February 19).
Nico Fuller of The Ridgeway in Chingford was arrested and charged on the same day with assault on an emergency worker.
The 25-year-old has also been charged with a domestic violence related assault.
He appeared at Thames Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (February 20).
Fuller was bailed to appear at Stratford Magistrates’ Court on May 28.
In the video, an officer is seen yelling “get on the ground” after an incident with two people.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “We are aware of a video showing a police officer being assaulted.
“It is believed to have been filmed in Brandon Road, E17 on Tuesday, 19 February.
“A 25-year-old man was charged with assault on an emergency worker and domestic violence related assault on Tuesday, 19 February.”
