The incident occurred on Blackhorse Road shortly before 12.30am this morning (December 12).
Paramedics in fast response cars and from the hazardous area response team were dispatched to the scene, alongside a trauma team by car from Essex and Herts Air Ambulance.
Two people were treated at the scene.
Despite the best efforts of emergency services, one person was pronounced dead at the scene.
Blackhorse Road was blocked off to traffic in both directions at its junction with Forest Road.
Nearby, Blackhorse Road Underground station was also closed temporarily whilst TfL reported a “police investigation”.
We have contacted the Metropolitan Police for its statement.
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 12.28am today (12 December) to reports of a road traffic collision on Blackhorse Road, Walthamstow.
“We sent resources to the scene including ambulance crews, paramedics in fast response cars, an incident response officer and paramedics from our hazardous area response team (HART). We also dispatched a trauma team in a car from Essex and Herts Air Ambulance.
“We treated two people. One patient declined further treatment but very sadly, despite the best efforts of our crews, a person was pronounced dead at the scene.”
