The NFF judges praised Rockpool for their “outstanding focus on quality, innovation, teamwork, and customer care,” describing them as “a dynamic new business that captures everything modern fishmongery should be.”
The annual awards celebrate excellence across the UK’s independent seafood retail sector, acknowledging the craft, knowledge, and integrity behind the counter.
This year’s finalists demonstrated a range of skills and business styles, from coastal fishmongers and smokehouses to urban seafood specialists and mobile traders.
They each represented the best of modern fishmongery.
The judging panel consisted of respected independent fishmongers with almost 200 years of combined experience in the trade.
President of the National Federation of Fishmongers, Sue MacKenzie, said: “This year’s awards have been one of the most rewarding projects the Federation has delivered.
“The standard of entries was truly exceptional, and the enthusiasm from businesses up and down the country has been inspiring.
“Rockpool Fishmongers exemplify everything we stand for – passion, craftsmanship, innovation and community spirit.
“But every single finalist has shown why independent fishmongers remain at the heart of Britain’s food culture.”
