Alongside the anticipated list of The Top 100 Asian Restaurants in the UK announced by the Asian Catering Federation (ACF), one chef will be crowned the title following a live cook-off event at Pillars Restaurant in June.

Eight finalists ranging from different backgrounds were required to prepare a starter and main course in an hour, and marks were awarded for originality, creativity, technical skill, and use of fresh local produce.

Finalists received “hundreds” of nominations from the public as well as food bloggers, restaurant critics and food journalists, with judges from the Federation to select the winning chef.

Asian Catering Federation (ACF) Co-chair Yawar Khan, who chairs the Federation’s curry awards, said: “We are delighted to see the return of these prestigious industry awards which celebrate the UK’s best Asian restaurants, and Asian and Oriental food chefs, working in the hospitality industry today.

“The standard of dishes produced at this year’s cook-off greatly impressed this year’s judges and we look forward to announcing the overall winner at our programme launch next month.”
