The bin in Hackney’s London Fields is full, seeing mountains of rubbish pile up around it and on top of it.
Among the rubbish are glass bottles, empty cans, boxes of takeaway food and coffee cups.
It’s understood the bins state followed good weather across London over the March 8-9 weekend when much of the UK was warm and sunny.

Now, Londoners have shared concerns about what the spring and summer months could mean for park bins in London.
‘Disgust’ amid overflowing bins in London
The photo was posted to the Reddit group r/London with the caption “As a sunny day in London Fields draws to a close.”
The post gained mass attention with more than 300 comments and 2000 upvotes.
Reacting to the post, one person said: “They need to put more bins there. It will be worse in the summer.”
Another person added: “Ye I think this shows the need for more bins. People have responsibly picked their stuff up and left is, while annoyingly around the bin.”
Others reminded that in summer, it’s typical for the local council to add more and bigger bins, aware of the higher foot traffic in the area.
As one person said: “London Fields usually has massive bins out, I’m guessing they only bring them out during the summer when the park gets rammed.
“A bit of sun comes out and people get crazy.
“Nah it’s on parkgoers to do better, take some personal responsibility and take your rubbish away it’s not hard to do.”
Some said that although there was lots of rubbish, at least it was gathered around the bin: “I thought this was a positive post about how neat and tidy everyone at the park was being.
“The grass areas look spotless and everyone has taken their trash to the bin. But most people seem to be seeing the negative.”
It wasn’t just London Fields that saw overflowing bins; one Londoner shared that Camden had a similar situation: “I saw a similar pile, an out three times as big by Camden Lock today.
“Most people want to do good but aren’t allowed. London doesn’t have nearly enough bins.”
Responding to the viral post, Cllr Sarah Young, Cabinet Member for Climate Change, Environment and Transport, said: “It’s wonderful to see so many people enjoying the warmer weather and making the most of our beautiful green spaces.
“London Fields is a very popular park, especially in sunny weather and managing it can be challenging.
“As the park gets busier, we will continue to monitor and adjust our waste management efforts to keep it clean and welcoming for everyone.
“We’re also very fortunate to have community groups like the London Fields User Group who support our parks team in carrying out litter picking exercises and looking after their local park.”
Cllr Young also shared details of extra support to stop overflowing bins in the warmer months: “Our teams are working hard to empty bins and manage litter, but we also kindly ask everyone to do their part.
