As a London borough, it is responsible for the collection of household waste and recycling.
It offers services including general rubbish bins, recycling bins, food waste collections, and garden waste services.
The dates of bin collections will vary depending on which part of Camden you live in and whether you live in a house, or above a shop.
People can pay to arrange collections for large items with Veolia, such as beds, mattresses, broken furniture and extra bags of rubbish.
Large electrical items are charged separately – £10 for up to two large items.
To find out when your bin day is or how to arrange collections, check the Camden Council website at https://www.camden.gov.uk/recycling-and-rubbish.
Houses
If you live in a house, or a house divided up into flats, bins should be left out by 7am on collection day.
They should be as close to the pavement as possible within one metre of the entrance to your property at street level as bins are not collected from basements or up steps.
If there is no space and bins need to be on the pavement, they should not block the path and be within one metre of the property.
Housing estates
Those living on a housing estate or in a block of flats, should put recycling and rubbish in the correct communal bins.
Anyone unsure about where to put their recycling and rubbish should ask their caretaker, on-site supervisor, or a neighbour.
Flats above shops
Those living above a shop should put their recycling and rubbish outside at the set time for that property.
Garden Waste Collection
People can pay to have their garden waste collected each week and can share these collections with their neighbours.
A 12-month subscription costs £75 and a nine month subscription costs £60 and comes with three reusable white garden bags or one brown waste bin.
People aged over 65 and those receiving 100% council tax support are entitled to a discount.
Garden waste should be outside the property by 7am on collection day and within a metre of the registered property’s front door.
Garden waste that does not fit in your bag or bin will not be collected.
Also, grass cuttings, weeds, dead flowers, garden prunings, leaves and barks will be collected.
Soil or rubble, plant pots, stone, large tree cuttings, food waste and other general rubbish will not.
Regis Road Reuse and Recycling Centre
People can take household waste such as scrap metal, broken or unwanted furniture, electrical items, oil, lightbulbs, garden waste, unwanted clothes and books to the recycling centre on Regis Road, in Kentish Town.
As part of a new trial, the centre is now accepting hard plastics such as garden furniture, buckets and bins.
