As a London borough, it is responsible for the collection of household waste and recycling.
It offers services including emptying general rubbish bins, recycling bins, food waste collections, and garden waste services.
As a rule, bins should be put out in front of homes by 6am on a street’s collection day although crews may not arrive until up until 5pm.
Dates and times for individual streets’ collections are on Barnet Council’s website, as are updates and alerts for when things go wrong.
WHEN BINS ARE NOT COLLECTED
If bins are not out on time on collection day.
If bins are too heavy they will not be emptied, as this can cause injury or prevent crews from safely emptying them and is also an indicator of incorrect items being disposed of.
Overfilled bins that will not shut will not be emptied as there will be items crews cannot remove for health and safety reasons.
Our crews will leave a bin hanger on your bin to tell you the reason your bin was not collected.
The council says that if a communal bin is contaminated, it is the responsibility of the residents, landlord or managing agents to remove the contaminated items before the next scheduled collection day.
