Officers, paramedics and the firefighters responded to the incident on Bexleyheath Broadway at around 1pm today (January 19).
It is not yet known if there are any injuries or their severity.
Pictures show two heavily damaged cars perpendicular to each other on the road.
One has a crumpled front with the bonnet and doors splayed open by the impact.
The second has damage to its side and is now sitting side-on in the road.
Both vehicles are behind a police cordon with the road closed for the emergency services to carry out their work.
Traffic is queuing on both sides of the road with 11 bus routes affected by the road closure.
The Met Police and London Ambulance Service have been contacted for information.
