70-year-old Michael Course was killed and a 67-year-old woman sustained life-changing injuries at the junction of Hurst Road and Glenhurst Avenue on June 21.
Officers have since confirmed that the woman remains in hospital in the same serious medical state.
A 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
He has since been bailed pending further enquiries.
An inquest at Croydon Coroner’s Court heard that Michael and the woman were on the pavement when the car lost control around 11pm.
Michael had been on his way home from an evening out, according to Burnt Ash Hockey Club.
He died at the scene.
In a tribute, the club said Michael was a “popular character” and would be “sorely missed” by his family and multiple sports teams he played a large role in.
It added: “Mike will be sorely missed by his family, members of both clubs and many people in Belvedere and Bexley villages, where he was a popular character in the local pubs.”
The police continue to appeal for information about the crash.
Detective Sergeant Rob Harris, from the Met’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “As our enquiries continue, we are appealing to anyone who may have been in the area at the time.
“Did you witness the collision? If you think you might have caught any dash cam or mobile phone footage of the incident, or the time leading up to it, please contact the police as soon as possible.”
