Officers were called to the alleged incident, close to Beckway Street and a short distance from Old Kent Road, last week (December 29) at around 8pm.
The female victim is being supported by specialist officers as an investigation is ongoing.
There have been no arrests at this stage, but enquiries continue.
At this stage, police have not shared any further details about the incident nor the suspect.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “Police are currently investigating reports of a rape, which occurred on Monday, 29 December at around 20:00hrs, close to Beckway Street.
“The female victim remains supported by specialist officers and enquiries remain ongoing.
“No arrests have been made at this stage.”
