The development of Beam Park station has been planned since 2002 to provide a wider London transport link along the c2c line to accompany almost 4,000 new homes.
As of March, more than 1,000 homes had already been constructed, with a further 500 in the works.
However, the railway station build has proved a challenge to the overall progress of the development after the government voiced concerns over the scheme.
The Department for Transport (DfT) said previously that it wanted to “be held immune” from financial risks posed by the development.
Concerns over how much use the station would get have also been raised, seeing the date for the station’s ticket hall completion being pushed back to December 31, 2027.
Around 40 per cent of the homes approved for Beam Park cannot be built until the station is delivered.
The Mayor of London’s office has provided an update on the progress of discussions after a planning application for the “construction of a new railway station ticket office” was approved by Havering Council this month.
A spokesperson for the council confirmed that the subject of the planning application is the building that will house the ticket office.
It appears that this application was submitted to “provide consent that the planning lawyers considered was risk free”, after approved plans for new homes “compromised” earlier consent for the ticket office.
Key stakeholders in the station’s delivery are understood to be working to understand the impact of the project.
A spokesperson for the Mayor of London said: “City Hall is committed to working on the delivery of Beam Park station.

“We strongly believe that investing in key infrastructure, like the new rail station at Beam Park, is essential to improving public transport for local people, supporting the construction of thousands of new homes and the wider regeneration in this part of London.
“We continue to work with the Department for Transport, Havering Council, c2c and Network Rail to find a way forward for this important project.
“Further technical work to assess the impact of the station on the wider network is still ongoing and this should complete in the new year.”
