Battersea Power Station’s annual winter art light trail opened on January 23 and will run over the winter up until February 23.
Now in its fifth year, this popular riverside festival will feature eight light art installations from a mix of both British and international artists, both inside and outside this famous south London landmark.
Some of this year’s biggest attractions will be four bespoke installations created exclusively for Battersea Power Station, including Aurora, created to resemble the Northern Lights by James Glancy Design, which can be found in the Art Deco Turbine Hall.
Bloom, created by Kumquat Lab, will feature interactive elements and soundscapes, and has been created to tell the story of the pollination process, resembling a plant with ten luminous spheres.
Italian artists Luigi Console and Valentina Novembre’s installation Never Ends features a horse that, when ridden, springs lights into action, making for the perfect Instagram moment.
Visitors can also find Chimney Cake, a winter pop-up hut in Malaysia Square, where you can get chimney cakes, nodding to the power station’s iconic chimneys.
Aside from the light trail, Battersea Power Station is also home to over 150 shops, bars and restaurants if you fancy a bite to eat, or some retail therapy after you’ve explored the light installations.
The Light Festival at Battersea Power Station will be open daily from January 23 until February 23 from 8am-11pm, with travel links via Battersea Power Station tube station and river boat services from Battersea Power Station pier.
