The move, brought forward by Barnet Council, will see 20mph zones and limits introduced across the borough.
Residents have until August 21 to submit feedback.
Speaking at a cabinet meeting in May, Councillor Alan Schneiderman, cabinet member for environment and climate change, said instead of a borough-wide 20mph policy the council had decided to “focus” on the areas where residents had highlighted there was a problem and where there was evidence to show it.
The draft policy, which has already gone to the overview and scrutiny committee as well as the cabinet, will now be consulted on, then returned to the cabinet for approval.
So far, Salisbury Road and Stapylton Road in High Barnet have been earmarked for lower speed limits, from 30mph to 20mph, due to resident and local councillor concerns.

A questionnaire asks how often residents travel around the borough and what form of transport they use.
Whether residents agree or disagree there are “issues with traffic speeding in Barnet” is another question ,as well as whether the new policy “could be one of the solutions”.
Residents are also are asked whether the new policy would lead to their journeys taking longer and if they would stick to the new speed limit.
