The Metropolitan Police has confirmed a 37-year-old man was arrested today (September 12) in Hendon on suspicion of religiously motivated criminal damage.
It forms part of an investigation into a spate of seven incidents involving Jewish venues in Barnet.
It is alleged that several synagogues had an unconfirmed substance smeared on them, and an unknown substance was thrown in the direction of a Jewish school and a car.
The man remains in custody at this stage whilst enquiries continue.
Policing levels have been stepped up in response to the incidents.
Det Chf Supt Luke Williams said: “This is a significant development in our investigation following substantial CCTV enquiries by officers.

“We remain in close contact with the local Jewish community as we continue to provide our support and reassurance.”
