Barking and Dagenham Council has announced proposed modifications to parking regulations in the Boundary Road area.
This involves changes to the existing shared use “Permit Holders Only Zone GE” which currently allows limited waiting from Monday to Saturday, 8.30am to 9pm.
This will now become a “Resident Permit Holders Only Zone GE” for all bays within the GE zone.
This includes several streets such as Abbey Road, Boundary Road, and Dovehouse Mead.

The Shaftesburys will be subject to a new no-waiting-at-any-time restriction on the north side, between the junction with Abbey Road and the northern arm of The Shaftesburys.
This will be enforced behind the length of road where there is no stopping on school entrance markings.
Additionally, the council intends to revoke specific regulations in St Marys.
These include the no-waiting-at-any-time restrictions, disabled blue badge holders only bays, and permit holders only Zone GE.
The limited waiting bays, which allow a one-hour stay with no return within two hours, will also be removed.
This change affects both sides of St Marys and the land now owned by Greatfields School.
The council has provided access to the draft orders, plans, and a statement of the reasons for proposing the orders.
These documents can be viewed on the council’s website under the “New and proposed traffic and parking schemes” section or inspected at the Adult Library, First Floor, Barking Learning Centre, Barking, between 9am and 4pm from Monday to Friday.
The council is inviting feedback on the proposed orders.
Anyone wishing to lodge objections or other representations must do so in writing, stating the grounds on which they are made.
These should be sent for the attention of Sarah Marriott-Carle to the address provided in the notice.
Alternatively, feedback can be provided via the council’s website using the link provided in the notice.
The deadline for submitting feedback is within 21 days from the date of publication of the notice, which was October 8, 2025.
