Barking and Dagenham Council, alongside police, acted after repeated incidents were reported by the occupant, who said known drug users were attempting to break into the property in John Burns Drive.
The council’s antisocial behaviour team and the police built a case and secured the order on Friday, August 1.
This order restricts access to the residence, allowing only the tenant to enter.
Anyone else found attempting to access the premises will be arrested.
Councillor Syed Ghani, cabinet member for enforcement and community safety, said: “This action sends a clear message that antisocial behaviour will not be tolerated in our borough.
“We’re committed to working with our partners to protect residents and ensure our communities feel safe.”
Acting Ch Insp Carroll Weeden said: “The team has been working in close partnership with the council, focused on safeguarding a vulnerable victim and preventing any further exploitation.
“This type of victimisation, known as cuckooing, can have a profound and lasting impact on those directly affected.”
The closure order will remain in effect for three months, during which time enhanced patrols will monitor compliance.
The council is also assisting the tenant by referring them to support agencies and discussing alternative housing arrangements.
