New statistics from the DVLA reveal that the town had more than 150 vehicles stolen in 2024.
Analysis of this data by Mail Online showed that this was a theft rate of 648 per 100,000 vehicles – higher than any other town or city in the country.
Dagenham is also a motor theft hotspot – the fifth worst in Britain – with a theft rate of 538 per 100,000 vehicles.

Other east London towns which ranked highly for motor theft rates in 2024, include Ilford, which ranked at eight, Rainham, which ranked at 14, and Romford, which ranked at 29.
It comes as the DVLA recorded more than 61,000 stolen cars across the country last year – more than double the amount reported a decade ago.
