The data compares schools based on factors such as average A-level grades, the percentage of students achieving grades AAB or higher and the progress made by pupils between key stage 4 and A-levels.
The Warren School in Whalebone Lane North, Chadwell Heath recorded a ‘Progress Score’ of 0.45 – the highest in the borough.
This was deemed “well above average” compared to students across England who got similar results at the end of key stage 4.
The report describes the progress score as an explanation of how much progress students who studied A-levels at this school or college made between the end of key stage 4 and the end of their A-level studies, compared to similar students across England.
The Warren School was one of six schools and colleges in Barking and Dagenham that recorded an average A-level 2024 grade of B-.
This equated to an average of 36.95 points.
Points are given as an equivalent to grades, which according to the report, allow for ease of comparison between qualifications of a different size and grading system.
The Warren School had the highest progress score with 0.45 (Image: Google) A total of 13.8 per cent of The Warren School’s students achieved grades AAB or higher in last year’s A-level exams – the third highest in the rankings.
Robert Clack School in Gosfield Road, Dagenham had the highest rate of students achieving AAB or higher with 19.4pc whilst Goresbrook School in Cook Road registered the second highest with 16.2pc.
Both of these schools, however, registered “average” progress scores.
The second highest progress score went to Jo Richardson Community School in Gale Street, Dagenham with an “above average” score of 0.31.
The average grade here was also B- and the average equivalent score was 36.59.
Riverside School in Renwick Road, Barking had the third highest progress score with 0.21, also deemed “above average” as well exam result averages of B- and 36.93 points.
Eastbrook School in Dagenham Road registered the borough’s only “well below average” progress score with -0.92.
The school recorded an average grade of D- and average points of 16.8 – the lowest in the list – whilst no pupils achieved grades AAB or higher here, according to the report.
Greatfields School in Net Street, Barking was the only other school out of those with available data to have no students achieve grades AAB or higher.
The Department for Education said students included in the data will have experienced some disruption due to Covid-19 earlier in their schooling, which will have affected individual students, schools and colleges differently.
