This week’s planning round-up for the borough shows a trend towards increasing residential density, with several proposals submitted to the council.

At the forefront is a proposal for an entire additional floor on The Sienna Building, Barking, which could see four new flats created (ref: 25/00799/PRIFLAT).

In the education sector, Growing Communities at the Old Nursery site in Central Park has requested permission to build a replacement classroom and facilities, reflecting an investment in green, alternative learning spaces (ref: 25/00745/FULL).

Residential developments in Dagenham continue to progress rapidly.

Three separate applications were submitted for 116 Beam Avenue, including a proposed first-floor rear extension (ref: 25/00767/HSE), a dormer loft conversion (ref: 25/00766/CLUP), and a 6m rear extension under prior notification (ref: 25/00765/PRIEXT).

Other proposed single-storey rear extensions include 13 Park Drive (ref: 25/00784/PRIEXT), 8 Broad Street (ref: 25/00791/PRIEXT), and 62 Cranborne Road (ref: 25/00797/PRIEXT).

A growing number of residents are opting for dormer loft conversions, like those proposed at 38 Grafton Road and 154 Keith Road (refs: 25/00738/FULL, 25/00771/CLUP).

The commercial sector is also seeing some action.

Lyon Business Park, River Road, has plans to add a two-storey commercial unit (ref: 25/00803/FULL), while Bryson House, Church Elm Lane, has submitted further details for bulky waste and parking strategies (refs: 25/00804/AOD, 25/00805/AOD).

154 Keith Road, Barking, is seeing a flurry of planning activity with applications for a dormer (ref: 25/00771/CLUP), two-storey rear extension (ref: 25/00794/CLUP), and a 6m rear extension (ref: 25/00769/PRIEXT).

A proposal has also been submitted for 66 Westbury Road to be converted into a small-scale children’s home with accommodation for two children and support staff under Class C2 (ref: 25/00757/CLUP).
