Banstead Road, south of Hill Road, will be implementing a zebra crossing this month.
Plans to install a zebra crossing on Banstead Road were originally scheduled for April 2025 but were delayed due to utility works in the area.
The works will be carried out by FM Conway on behalf of Sutton Council and will commence on July 14.
From then to July 28, Banstead Road will be closed to all vehicles, including bikes, between the junctions with Cambridge Road, Downside Road, Waverley Road, Hill Road, and Harrow Road.
No cars or bikes will be able to get on, off, or drive through that stretch during the closure.
Parking will also be temporarily suspended along Banstead Road near the work site while the construction takes place.
In a letter sent to residents by the Principal Engineer within the Highways and Transport Team at Sutton Council, they said: “There will be road signs in place to advise the date of the works in advance of the works starting and diversion route signing in place when needed.
“An alternative route for vehicular traffic when the prohibition is in place will be via Park Hill, Beeches Avenue, Staplehurst Road, and vice versa.
“Please avoid parking in the area of the works, which will be clearly marked with signs, cones and barriers.
“I apologise in advance for any inconvenience these works may cause, but our engineers will be working with the contractor to ensure the work is completed as quickly and safely as possible.”
