James Gbadamosi has died in hospital following the incident on Balham High Road in August.
The Metropolitan Police responded to reports of an assault along the high street at 3.40pm on August 24.
At the scene, 67-year-old James was found suffering injuries that were deemed to be potentially life-threatening.

Just over two weeks later, the Metropolitan Police has now confirmed that he died in hospital on September 5.
His family are being supported by specialist officers.
A man from Greenwich has been charged with murder.
