Epping Forest District Council said Bakers Lane is set to undergo essential highway improvements from Monday, September 8.
The extensive work, being carried out by Essex Highways, is scheduled to last around 16 weeks and will be completed in three phases.
This approach is intended to maintain access and minimise disruption as much as possible, the council said.
Phase one will see the road closed from the St John’s Road junction to the Bakers Lane roundabout junction with Cottis Lane.
Phase two will involve the closure from the roundabout at Cottis Lane to the junction with Albany Court.
Phase three will be an overnight closure on Albany Court for resurfacing, with no vehicle access.
Residents living on the affected roads have been informed of the works by letter, a council spokesperson said.
Most of the work will be carried out during the day, with access for residents still provided.
Overnight resurfacing works in Albany Court are also proposed, and Essex Highways will contact affected residents nearer the time if this takes place.
For those travelling around the area, signed diversion routes will be in place on St John’s Road, Coronation Hill, and Lincolns Field.
Councillor Ray Balcombe, deputy leader, said: “This work is essential, and one of the last steps, in getting the new Epping Leisure Centre ready for opening.
“It’s exciting to be that one step closer to completion of the new leisure centre.”
