Work and Pensions Secretary Liz Kendall announced on Tuesday an overhaul of the welfare system and reform to disability benefits on Tuesday. The Unite union has said that Transport for London (TfL) enforcement officers will strike from tomorrow until Saturday (March 20 to 22). This marks the second time that officers within the compliance, policing, operations and security directorate (CPOS) have walked out this year, following similar action in February. St William, a Berkeley Group company, has received full planning permission for the Bromley-by-Bow Gasworks regeneration project. This comes after a section 106 legal agreement with Newham Council. The 23-acre brownfield site, part of London’s industrial history, will see the construction of more than 2,150 homes. The project will also make the site publicly accessible for the first time in 150 years. The 2025 Kevin Jenkins OBE Easter Egg Appeal was launched by the Ambition Aspire Achieve (AAA) charity, based in Canning Town. Islington Council’s planning committee has given the green light to plans to partially demolish, reclad, and refurbish The Pentagon at 48 Chiswell Street, on the corner of Whitecross Street, with a two-storey roof extension and a new retail unit on the ground floor. Residents had objected to the proposals, citing concerns about reduced light for neighbouring properties, particularly those in the Whitbread Estate. On Wednesday (March 19) police named Jay Langley, 38, as a wanted man for failing to appear in court. Langley, of Ellenborough Road, is charged with stealing from Aldi in Sevenoaks on October 11 last year then again on January 12. In total he is accused of stealing over £650 worth of goods. He was due to appear at Bromley Magistrates’ Court last Friday (March 14). Police said Langley’s last known location was Bexley and have urged any with information on his whereabouts to call Crimestoppers anonymously on 101. Source link
