The council received extensive feedback, with many – including residents groups – fearing it would push traffic onto already congested roads such as Highgate West Hill. Daniel Wodley was in court last Thursday (March 13) where he was set free with a community order after he admitted stealing £283 worth of cash and alcohol from Co-op in Anerley. As part of his sentence he was banned from that Co-op and ordered to engage in drug rehabilitation treatment. But instead of counting his lucky stars and changing his ways the 37-year-old went on to burgle another shop two days later. Veterans of the BBC’s legendary Radiophonic Workshop returned last week for a final visit to the studios where they created the music and sound effects for the likes of Doctor Who, Blake’s 7 and Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. The venue was Maida Vale Studios in Delaware Terrace – the workshop’s base for four decades from the late 1950s. Armed officers were seen stopping traffic as they dealt with an incident on St John’s Wood Road on Sunday (March 16). It is understood this sighting was linked to police being called further into central London in New Bond Street at 4.10pm. Police were called to reports of two men armed with a knife riding e-bikes. Two suspects were arrested by officers who arrived at the scene, and they were taken into custody. Friends have named the 21-year-old student as Aliyah, who reportedly was sat on a bench outside the college when she was hit yesterday (March 18) at 11.41am. Two others were also injured in the crash, as one remains in a serious condition in hospital, but her conditions are not believed to be life-threatening. A 23-year-old man who was taken to hospital has since been discharged. A fourth person was treated at the scene and discharged. Havering Council has announced temporary closures for several roads as essential maintenance work is carried out. Imran Kazalbash, director of environment, has confirmed these restrictions, which have been shared in the Romford Recorder. The northbound A127 Southend Arterial Road at the junction with Squirrels Heath Road will be closed for traffic signal repairs from 10am to 3pm on March 21. Around six fire engines and 40 firefighters have been called to The Balti Cottage in Goresbrook Road today (March 19) after eight calls were made at 1.49pm. Dozens of firefighters tackled the blaze at the building, which has flats above. The fire was eventually under control by 3.04pm, with no injuries reported. Anthony Moore, who has since left the force, was a police constable in the South East Command Unit which polices Lewisham, Greenwich and Bexley. On February 6 this year he was the subject of a misconduct hearing relating to a number of videos and images found on his phone. He did not attend the misconduct hearing but denied the allegations.
