Islington Foodbank faces eviction from its location at Highbury Roundhouse, putting the future of the organisation and its ability to feed those in need in jeopardy. The council has demanded the foodbank sign a licence with terms that allow it to be evicted at very short notice. The foodbank – run by the Trussell Trust – has refused to do so, and now faces a day in court that will cost the charity thousands of pounds or more in legal bills. Police were called to the station today (June 13) at around 10.10am to reports of a casualty on the tracks. The person was pronounced dead at the scene. British Transport Police (BTP) officers are not treating the incident as suspicious and a file is being prepared for the coroner. Poundland currently has 825 stores across the UK, employing around 16,000 staff. However, much of this could be put at risk because of a proposed restructuring. Officers from the Metropolitan Police were called at 11.19pm on June 11 with reports of an incident in Claxton Grove. At the scene, two men were found being treated for gunshot wounds before being taken to hospital. One of the victims, a 30-year-old man, died in hospital the following day (June 12). His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers. A post-mortem examination will take place in due course. Officers have released CCTV images following an assault on a man who intervened in a pickpocketing incident at Oxford Circus Underground station. At 11.40pm on Thursday, May 22, a 37-year-old man was near platform four when he spotted two men attempting to steal from a woman. He confronted the suspects and managed to recover a stolen wallet. However, the man was then punched and kicked to the ground by the pair. The attackers fled the scene when other passengers rushed to help.
