An ambulance was called minutes before the police at 1.30pm today (April 2) near the junction of Caledonian Road and Camden Road. Ambulance crews, an incident response officer and paramedics were sent and treated the two 17-year-olds at the scene. They were then taken to hospital “as a priority”, one to a major trauma centre and the other to a local hospital. Batman, a hall of residence cat for students at the University of Westminster, may have been stolen after staff saw him taken away by two men at the Harrow campus on March 26. All ten of Havering’s older high-rise residential buildings are set for fire safety works, if the proposals are approved at a council cabinet meeting next Wednesday (March 9). Lumiere Cinema, in The Mercury shopping centre, will mark its grand opening this Friday (April 4) with a line-up of new releases including The Minecraft Movie and Mickey 17. The draft proposal put forward by Lewisham Council would see part of Deptford High Street closed to cars from New Cross Road to Hamilton Street every day during set hours. The area of the high street is currently pedestrianised three days a week for the markets.
