Some 55% of motorists aged under 25 said they have made and received voice calls without hands-free technology while driving, according to the poll commissioned by the RAC. That is compared with 27% for drivers of all ages. The figure for young drivers is up from 49% last year and 52% in 2016 when the RAC began including the question in its annual report on motoring. The fire, at the terraced house in Ley Street which had been converted into flats with a loft conversion, broke out at 4.09pm on yesterday (December 12). Footage on social media showed the moment of the blast at the terraced building which sent debris onto the road as vehicles, including a double decker bus, were nearby. The comments come after the authority decided to sell three council-owned car parks in October to address a £27 million budget gap predicted for next year. Transport for London (TfL) has confirmed that the 118 bus route, which runs from Morden to Brixton, will be withdrawn from February 2025. The decision follows a public consultation held between September 2 and October 13, 2024, which proposed changes to bus routes 45, 59, and 118. TfL consultation report states: “The proposals aimed to simplify the bus network between Streatham, Brixton and Camberwell”. Starting from December 15, Southeastern will be launching a new timetable with an additional 220 services added every week to certain lines running through Kent and London. Customers are being advised to check routes before travelling in December, as the timetable undergoes adjustments while the services are being implemented.
