A fire in Mitcham has damaged several outbuildings across two homes in Mitcham. The London Fire Brigade was called at 4.28am today (July 3) to reports of a fire on Stuart Place. When firefighters arrived, they found several outbuildings on fire across two properties. In total, three sheds were damaged, along with part of a garage, a flat-bed transit van, and about five metres of fencing. Three gas cylinders were safely cooled and removed as a precaution. “Some cylinders can explode when exposed to heat” a spokesperson for the London Fire Brigade said. Police are searching for the driver of a car after it crashed into a residential property in Brockley. Officers were called to reports of the crash on Brockley Way today (July 3) at 3.18pm. Police attended the scene alongside other emergency services. There have been no reports of any injuries. Michael Course, 70, died after being hit by a car at the junction of Hurst Road and Glenhurst Avenue on June 21.
