Gallows Corner roundabout and flyover shut to all traffic last Monday (June 23), having a knock-on impact on traffic in the surrounding roads and access to businesses near the junction.  As a result, a couple of businesses – Wax On car wash and Gallows Corner Motors – have been forced to close completely during the works, while others have been left with “uncertainty” over how deliveries and customers will reach them. Police were called to the centre on Saturday (June 28) at 6.12pm following reports of the knife attack. Medics treated the teenage boy at the scene before taking him to hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life-changing or life-threatening. A boy, 16, has been arrested on suspicion of possessing a knife and grievous bodily harm and a 15-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of affray. Both have been released under investigation. Criterion Capital wants to build a 16-storey apart-hotel, which would contain serviced apartments booked using a hotel system, with up to 175 rooms. A 15-storey tower with up to 150 rooms in shared flats and a seven-storey building with around 90 flats are also planned. Winsome McLennon, known as Winnie, has been sleeping on her couch for months as the floorboard in her bedroom “burns” from heating pipes beneath.
