Havering Council’s strategic planning committee is recommended to approve plans to extend the operational life of the Veolia site, in Coldharbour Lane, at a meeting next Thursday (July 10). This means that at least another one million cubic metres of non-hazardous waste is intended to be dumped there until December 31 2029. Paramedics were called at 3pm today (July 4) with reports of an incident in Middleton Road. An ambulance crew and an incident response officer were dispatched to the road, where they discovered two people injured. One patient died at the scene. The second was discharged. Middleton Road remains cordoned off following the incident. We have contacted the Metropolitan Police for a comment. The V&A has released details for its new David Bowie Centre featuring 90,000 items belonging to the star, including photographs, awards, musical instruments, album artwork and Bowie’s 1992 Thierry Mugler wedding suit. The incident was reported to the Metropolitan Police at 3.43pm on May 14 in Ladywell Fields. The gunshots were heard by a number of people but no injuries were reported. Muswell Hill Library closed in June 2023 with Haringey Council pledging refurbishment works would take a year. However the project has been hit by delays and now may reopen in the autumn. Meredith Gurwith contacted this paper after she said her attempts to nail down an opening date were ignored. Drivers are advised of scheduled overnight closures at the Dartford Crossing this weekend, affecting the northbound and southbound routes.
