Leonna Ruka was visiting family in the area on Saturday, where she travelled to Chalkwell Park to enjoy the warm summer weather. Shortly before 3pm, a tree in the park partially collapsed, with several children caught beneath it, including Leonna. Leonna was taken on to hospital with serious injuries where she died. Essex Police continue to provide support to her family. A six-year-old girl remains in hospital in a critical condition and three other children received minor injuries. Emergency services were called to Kilburn High Road near Netherwood Street at around 8.30pm yesterday (June 30). Officers arrived alongside paramedics and an air ambulance team to find the 16-year-old boy injured. The teenager was taken to hospital with injuries that have been assessed not to be life-threatening or changing. Abu Ubaid, director of Nuha & Aidah Limited, pleaded guilty to the offence at Thames Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, June 17, following a test purchase carried out by Waltham Forest trading standards. The sale took place at Joey’s Discount Store in Lea Bridge Road on August 22, 2024. The store owner told the court he had left a trainee in charge due to a family emergency. Coach driver Lalit Gohil, of Buckingham Road, Edgware, broke both his legs in a catastrophic accident after his niece’s birthday dinner in Leicester last June. A year on from his injuries he regularly has to go to Northwick Park Hospital for physiotherapy. Lalit’s mother is also an inpatient at the hospital. On a recent visit, Lalit found out there are only two bariatric wheelchairs in the whole Watford Road site – and he said it could be “nearly impossible” to get one. The footage was recorded during a party being held in the Brent park yesterday (June 30). It shows a woman holding what appears to be a knife, as she approaches someone in the crowd and holds it near to them. One person is heard yelling “she backed out a shank” – meaning that she brought out a knife – while others are screaming and running away from the woman. The police were called to the junction of Noel Road and the Newham Way section of the A13 around 8.30pm yesterday (June 30). Officers arrived to find a car had crash into a bollard, street furniture, a tree and finally turned over. Despite the 24-year-old driver managing to escape the car before the emergency services arrived, he sustained “serious” injuries. He was rushed to hospital where he is in a life-threatening condition. The ‘domino’ challenge at Wohl Ilford Jewish Primary school was a creative idea to support families in need. Every pupil brought a box of cereal to school to donate to the Chabad Aid charity to distribute to families in need. They collected 225 boxes which were carefully lined up, stretching from the top of the school stairs and along the corridor.
