The government is repealing the Vagrancy Act, introduced in 1824 in the Georgian era, as its use has significantly fallen in line with modern attitudes. But it still remains enforceable by law, Haringey Council points out. “Overcoming homelessness must be about support — not prosecution,” Haringey’s deputy council leader Sarah Williams said. “Interventions are by far the best way of getting people off the streets and into permanent homes. “The government is making an historic and much-overdue change to the law.” The council’s own homeless team has helped reduce rough sleeping in Haringey by a third over the past three…

But, said senior east London coroner Graeme Irvine, “It was learned by the coroner that injuries sustained by Mr Panashchenko had been sustained in Barking and consequently it was more proper for the inquest to be heard in east London.” “This 50-year-old man was observed…

“Two years ago I was here playing for 5,000 people,” she says, referencing her 2023 support slot for K-Pop band Blackpink. “I was dreaming of this day and this moment.” It’s delivered with heartfelt sincerity – even if having been there I’d say it was way more than 5,000 – but her slick, hugely entertaining 80-minute set proves why she’s risen so swiftly to Pop Queen status. Sabrina Carpenter played two sell-out shows at BST Hyde Park.
