Enfield Council is holding a public consultation on planned parking charges at the Forty Hall Estate public car park to improve traffic management and enhance environmental sustainability. The proposed parking rates range from £2 for up to one hour to £10 for over four hours, and will apply from 9am until 8pm each day. Parking will remain free for periods of less than 30 minutes. The upward escalator that carries people from Highgate station ticket hall to street level is open once again. While repairs were carried out, passengers had been left to walk up at least 16 steps to exit the station since last October. A 12-year-old boy has died after a flat was destroyed by a fire in Lewisham. The boy, named as Fabian Henry by his family, died in the fire in Lewisham Road just before midnight (July 8), reports Metro.
