The car on Upper Wickham Lane, near to Hafer Road and Lindore Road, has been left upside down this morning (July 11) after a crash. A section of the road is cordoned off with police tape covering the vehicle. Smashed glass from the car is scattered across the floor and the front of it is left crumpled. Work is currently taking place to remove it from the scene. However, there is traffic around the busy road as it takes places. The London Ambulance Service has been approached for comment. John Andreas Wik, of Limes Road, managed to take over the free WiFi networks offered at some Network Rail stations across Britian, as well as other places elsewhere and abroad, redirecting them to a landing page with the Islamophobic messaging on September 25 last year. The page contained references to previous terrorist attacks that had taken place in the UK and abroad, including 7/7 and the Manchester Arena bombing, with some who viewed the page fearing that that an attack was about to take place. At the time, the now 37-year-old was an employee at Global Reach Technology, the company…

Research carried out by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) on behalf of independent charity The Health Foundation revealed a “clear association” between where you live and your risk of dying prematurely, with factors such as deprivation and ethnicity accounting for much of the difference. Education, occupation and whether someone was born in the UK are also likely to contribute. The research is the first of its kind to explore the impact of such characteristics on premature mortality at a local level. The Health Foundation said the findings can be used “to support co-ordinated action to address health inequalities”. The…

The move, brought forward by Barnet Council, will see 20mph zones and limits introduced across the borough.  Residents have until August 21 to submit feedback.  Speaking at a cabinet meeting in May, Councillor Alan Schneiderman, cabinet member for environment and climate change, said instead of a borough-wide 20mph policy the council had decided to “focus” on the areas where residents had highlighted there was a problem and where there was evidence to show it.  The draft policy, which has already gone to the overview and scrutiny committee as well as the cabinet, will now be consulted on, then returned to…

Last year, the Conservative government introduced The Leasehold and Freehold Reform Act 2024. This aimed to improve the rights of leaseholders – people who own their homes, often flats within a building, but only for a set period. It abolishes the premium leaseholders pay to the ultimate owner – the freeholder- to extend their lease. But John Lyon’s Charity, which is based in St John’s Wood and provides educational grants to children and young people up to the age of 25, has warned it risks losing up to £1.4 million a year as a result. The charity, which derives large amounts…

Max – his name has been changed – says he was left drug-addicted after being exposed to them when he was placed in children’s homes, but was rejected by the council’s Support Payment Scheme because he entered the homes a few months too late. Islington offered £10,000 payments to survivors of abuse in its former children’s homes between 1966 and 1995. But Max says that while the council decided to place him in care in 1995, he didn’t enter the first home until 1996. “I went through opening up the wounds again, letting them interview me at length, wasting my time and…

Since the Grand Tour ended, May, Clarkson and Richard Hammond have remained relatively quiet, save for a few YouTube videos or Clarkson’s hit Amazon Prime show, Clarkson’s Farm. But now, May – who has his own gin brand – has fired a joking shot at Clarkson in a review of the former’s gin offering. On TikTok, May sets about reviewing this new gin: “Gin in a tin. Oh! It’s Diddly Squat Farm Shop gin. “Exclusively distilled in the shire by gin in a tin, bla bla, Diddly Squat. Usual UK chief medical officer’s stuff. “Well, it is at least a gin.…

She tested positive to having cocaine in her system.  DC Buckley has since resigned from the Met Police but last Thursday, July 3, a misconduct panel concluded that she would be been dismissed had she not already walked.  The panel said: “It is entirely unacceptable for police officers who are responsible for enforcing the law, to break the law by consuming illicit substances, such as cocaine.  “Doing so undermines public trust and confidence in policing, as well as the reputation of the Met Police Service.  “The public could not have confidence in former DC Buckley to protect them or others.…
