Izaiah Smith was pulled from the lake in Beckenham Place Park, at 10.42pm on Friday, more than seven hours after police began searching for him. Kieron Charles, 17, was one of two boys to be stabbed in Erconwald Street soon after 1pm on Saturday (April 5). Kieron, from East Acton, died at the scene despite the attempts to save him by paramedics. The second teenager, aged 16, was taken to hospital with stab wounds that are not life-changing and then discharged. Two 16-year-old boys – who cannot be named for legal reasons – have now been charged with murder today (April 7). They have been remanded and are appearing at Highbury Corner Youth Court today. Dr Neill Garrard won an employment tribunal against Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust in January, after a judge ruled an investigation the trust carried out into alleged sexual misconduct that resulted in him being sacked was flawed. In December 2024, the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service (MPTS), which deals with complaints about doctors, cleared him of two allegations of sexual misconduct, including the incident alleged by a patient at Lewisham Hospital. The London Borough of Croydon has published its Members’ Allowance Scheme for 2025/26. The new scheme, which took effect from April 1, outlines the basic and special responsibility allowances for council members, following an agreement by the council on February 26. All council members will receive a basic allowance of £11,984. The Civic Mayor and Deputy Civic Mayor will receive additional allowances of £16,298 and £8,149, respectively. Meanwhile, the Elected Mayor of the Council will receive a total of £83,942, which includes the basic allowance. Police were called to Longhill Road, near Forster Park in south east London, at 6.30pm on Friday (April 4) following reports of an altercation between two men. At the scene, a man in his 30s was found with stab wounds. He was taken to hospital, where his injuries have been assessed as non-life-changing and non-life-threatening. Haringey’s planning sub-committee approved the project on April 3, which will see the Selby Centre in Tottenham demolished and replaced with 202 homes for council rent. This follows Enfield Council’s planning committee’s approval in January for a new Selby Centre to be built next door on Bull Lane Playing Fields. The Selby Urban Village project, a joint venture between Haringey Council and Selby Trust, will provide family-sized accommodation, including 67 three-bedroom homes and 12 four-bedroom properties. Talacre Community Sports Centre in Kentish Town is undergoing renovations to make it accessible for everyone. The work is being carried out in phases so the centre can remain open throughout, Camden Council said. The centre will host community events this summer to celebrate the completion of the project.
