The incident happened in Upper Street near Canonbury Lane just before 8am today (April 10). Officers and London Ambulance Service crews attended and found four people injured. Two of them were taken to hospital for further treatment where their conditions are unknown at this stage. Upper Street is closed both ways between Canonbury Lane and Barnsbury Street as the incident is dealt with. We have contacted Metropolitan Police for further information. The £1,593,762 grant from The National Lottery Heritage Fund will be used to improve the park in Addiscombe. This follows a successful bid in 2023 when the council was awarded £300,000 to develop proposals for the park. The blaze broke out in a flat opposite a primary school in Cornwall Avenue around 11.30pm last night (April 9). 60 firefighters rushed to the fire and rescued seven people from the inferno, which damaged flats across three floors. They used fire escape hoods, a technology introduced in 2018 after the Grenfell Tower fire. The hoods give people up to 15 minutes protection from dangerous gasses by filtering the smoke.
