The Mixed Pond on the heath, which is closed every winter, is reopening on Saturday (April 12) from 7am to 4.15pm. City of London Corporation, which runs the Heath and ponds, said that from Sunday it will be open from 7am to 6.15pm daily. Women had been using the mixed pond since February while maintenance work was being carried out at the Kenwood Ladies Pond, which opened this week (April 9). Salima Kamara, a 27-year-old portrait photographer, was charged with attempting to murder Oshane Campbell on Tuesday, April 8.  A Met Police spokesperson said this follows an incident which took place at an address on Bracondale Road the previous day, when it was alleged that bleach was added to a number of food products.  The victim, aged 31, was taken to hospital but did not receive any life-changing or life-threatening injuries.  Kamara, of Bracondale Road, appeared at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday and was remanded into custody.   She will appear at the Old Bailey next month.  The investigation into the incident…

The Post Office confirmed that it is offloading 108 crown branches, which are those currently directly owned and run by the company, including 36 in London. The process could see the sites taken over by other businesses, while others could face closure as franchises are moved to different premises. One of those at risk is Cricklewood post office, in Cricklewood Broadway, which campaigners are battling to keep open.  Richard Rowland, who lives in Cricklewood, set up a petition in November when news broke that the post office could close urging people to help “preserve our beloved community hub”. Edenberries Day Nursery in Mawney Road was inspected by Ofsted on February 12 with the findings being made public last month. The nursery was deemed ‘good’ in all four of its applicable categories: quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development and leadership and management. Paramedics from the London Ambulance Service were called at 11.30am today (April 10) with reports of a stabbing on Uxbridge Road.  An ambulance crew, incident response officer and paramedics from the tactical response unit were dispatched to the scene where a man in his 40s was found suffering from injuries.  He was treated at the scene before being taken to a major trauma centre. Romford Town Wombles cleaned up the town as part of Keep Britain Tidy’s Great British Spring Clean’ and Havering Council’s Where We Live campaign. The volunteers came armed with litter picks, bags and spades — with 50 bags of rubbish collected in just one day. Councillors, including leader Ray Morgon, also joined in and helped out. The Fardi family has lived on the Gascoigne Estate since 2003, but say they no longer feel safe in their home. At the end of February, Mouna Fardi was at home with her 17-year-old son when she said a suspected burglar tried to enter by unlocking the front door through the letterbox. Terrified, she called her daughter who contacted the police. The family claims officers attended the scene but that no investigation was launched.
