Police were called to Windrush Square in Brixton on July 3 at around 6:09am, where the exhibition had opened earlier in June 22. Some of the 20 exhibits had been vandalised, and police launched an investigation. Yesterday (July 5) police arrested a 24-year-old man on suspicion of vandalism, he currently remains in police custody. Trudy Spillane, executive principal of Drapers’ Maylands Primary School and Drapers’ Pyrgo Priory School, has been recognised at this year’s Pearson National Teaching Awards.She was given the silver award for headteacher of the year in a primary school. Ms Spillane is one of six headteachers across the UK to be given a silver award in this category for her “lasting impact” on children. As a silver winner, she has a place in the finals and could win a gold award. She will find out if she is a gold winner at an awards ceremony later this year. Ms Spillane founded Maylands in 2015 with just 17 pupils. She created a child-centred environment rooted in different approaches. Emergency services were called to John Harrison Way in Greenwich yesterday (July 5) at around 4:50am, after a crash involving a car and a pedestrian. A 46-year-old woman was treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to hospital. The force has confirmed that her injuries have been assessed as life-changing.
