Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters were called to a fire on Leigham Court Road just after midnight (August 23). The impacted school is believed to be Julian’s Primary School. Operators answered six calls to the blaze and crews from West Norwood, Norbury, Tooting, Brixton and surrounding fire stations were sent to the scene. A 32-metre turntable ladder from Clapham Fire Station was also used. The fire was brought under control by 2.40am but crews have remained on scene throughout the night damping down. Bromley Council has announced plans for the crossing on Bromley Lane, BR7, 22.4 metres south-west of the boundary between numbers 2 and 4. The parents of a young father who was stabbed to death at the Notting Hill Carnival three years ago have pleaded for people to come forward to help find his killer for the sake of his children. Takayo Nembhard was fatally stabbed while surrounded by several hundred people on Monday August 29 2022, under the Westway flyover in Ladbroke Grove at the west London event. Havering Council has proposed an extension to the pedestrian and cycle zone which serves both Redden Court School and Harold Wood Primary.  The area – which currently covers part of Coombe Road up until its junction with Beltinge Road – is now set to include the entire length of Coombe Road up to Redden Court Road. It is not clear when this change would come into force. However, the zone’s hours of operation will remain unchanged, with cars not permitted in the area between 8.15am and 9am, or 2.30pm and 3.30pm, on weekdays during term time.
