They have been released on immigration bail. Watan was issued a civil penalty notice. Civil penalty notices include a fine of up to £45,000 per illegal worker for a first breach and up to a maximum of £60,000 for repeat offending. A Home Office spokesperson said:…
Leon Wright, 40, returned from his honeymoon with wife Amy, 34, to find an enforcement notice had been posted through the letterbox of their flat in Twickenham, southwest London. Their property falls under the jurisdiction of Richmond Council, which says residents should leave their bins on the pavement in colour-coded bags from 8pm the night before collection. Mr Wright admits he put his rubbish out at 3:25pm – some four-and-a-half hours before the advised time – but says the fine was unjust as he had to leave for Heathrow Airport and had no other option. Leon Wright, 40, returned from his…

But last week, during the Alton Renewal meeting, I did. Let me explain why. Roehampton is a vibrant community that’s been overlooked for too long. That’s changing. The Alton Estate, one of Europe’s largest housing estates, sits beside Richmond Park. Designed in the 1960s by an award-winning architect, it has green spaces, shops, and community hubs. Now, it’s about to undergo a major renewal—and residents will have their say in September. For years, the Conservative council ignored the growing needs of Alton. Overcrowding worsened.
