The closures are part of efforts to save £260 million across the Metropolitan Police Service. Just 20 counters will remain open, leaving some boroughs without any dedicated walk-in police services, despite previous promises to maintain 24-hour access in every borough. Other east and north London desks set to shut include those in Tottenham, Edmonton, and Harrow.…
Scotland Yard published the full list of proposed closures on Wednesday (August 6), revealing that front counters at Tottenham Police Station, in High Road, and Edmonton Police Station, in Fore Street, will be among 18 to be axed. The move comes as the Met seeks to bridge a £260 million funding gap, reducing the number of public-facing counters from 37 to just 20. It breaks a long-standing pledge to have at least one 24/7 accessible front counter in each London borough. Other closures include Kentish Town in Camden, Church Street in Westminster, and Harrow in South Harrow. A Met spokesperson…
The front counter at Harrow Police Station, in Northolt Road, South Harrow, is one of 18 slated for closure by the end of this year, according to a list published on Wednesday (August 6) by Scotland Yard. Just 20 of the 37 counters currently open will remain under the plans, aimed at addressing a £260 million budget shortfall across the Met. The decision means some boroughs may soon be without any dedicated front desk access – a break from the Met’s previous commitment to ensure one 24-hour counter in each borough. Other north London stations affected include Kentish Town, Church…
