The rodent was filmed yesterday (August 7) making its way slowly across an aisle at the Sainsbury’s in Roden Street, before disappearing under a shelf. The video was posted to the IG1IG3 Instagram page on Thursday (August 7) to the Ratatouille theme music, with the caption “Sainsbury’s sort it out”. One commenter joked that the mouse appeared to be “making its way towards the cheese flavoured crisps”. The council has called for the premises licence for North Eight, formerly The Hornsey Arms and Hornsey Tavern, to be reviewed after nearly 46 call outs were made between May 2024 and July 2025 with crimes, including underage drinking and customers fighting. The east London and Essex radio station, based in Romford, was acquired by Nation Broadcasting on August 1. It has since been rebranded as Nation Radio London. Romford MP Andrew Rosindell has joined others – including the chief executive of a non-profit radio station in east London – in raising concerns that the new station will not have the same Havering-focused programming. National Highways has confirmed it plans to turn the lighting off between junction 27 and junction 28 of the M25 for a year-long trial to see if taxpayers’ money could “deliver greater safety benefits” elsewhere. The switch-off date was initially expected to take place on August 11, but a National Highways spokesperson told the Recorder this date has been pushed back while the team “secure the roadworks needed” to turn the lights off. Dr Gurkirit Kalkat, a GP at Thames View Health Centre, was suspended for a year in July 2024 after a tribunal found “serious misconduct” in his treatment of a patient. The initial misconduct hearing revealed Dr Kalkat had beat himself in the chest and thrown himself against a door while shouting “stop hitting me” in an attempt to frame a vulnerable patient for assault. Office for National Statistics population data, published on July 30, shows that the average age of those living in Havering is 38.9 years old. This is the youngest Havering’s population has been since 2011 and marks a gradual decline in average age over the past decade.
