Police were called just after 5pm yesterday (June 25) to South Street, near The Moon and Stars pub. Officers arrived and arrested six boys – all aged between 15 and 17 – on suspicion of affray and possession of an offensive weapon. All suspects remain in police custody. Cygnet Hospital Beckton, in Tunnan Leys, was found to have breached safety regulations five times at an inspection by the Care Quality Commision (CQC) in December 2024. The inspection – which looked into the hospital’s acute mental health ward, psychiatric intensive care unit (PICU), and two personality disorder wards – was sparked by concerns about an “increase in safety incidents” across the wards, according to the CQC. Hekmat Galmne, 27 has been found guilty of attempted murder after the shooting on July 25, 2024. A man was travelling southbound on an e-bike on the A41, when an “altercation” happened with people inside a black BMW at around 5.20pm Galmne, of Village Way in Pinner, then shot the man on the bike and the victim was taken to hospital where he made a full recovery. The fire broke out at Skip It Waste Site in College Road at around 10.30pm yesterday (June 25). Officers and Kent Fire Rescue Service attended and found several lorries that were on fire. The blaze was put under control shortly after. Road closures remain in place at the junctions with Longdown Lane and Reigate Road. Officers are urging residents to avoid the area while emergency services deal with the incident.. Drivers started to use the new road crossing under the Thames connecting Greenwich and the Royal Docks on April 7. Transport for London (TfL) levies a toll on the tunnel, and on the nearby Blackwall Tunnel, which was previously free, at peak times. Transport bosses have claimed that this has reduced congestion around the entrances to the Blackwall Tunnel on either side of the river.
