The pupils put on a carnival celebration before Edgware Primary School broke up for the summer holiday. Families joined in with a picnic in the school grounds, entertained by roaming circus performers moving around and engaging with the excited pupils. Alcohol could be sold at a Croydon street event if a licensing application is approved. The South Croydon Business Association has submitted a request to Croydon Council to vary its premises licence. If approved, the variation would allow the sale of alcohol on August 31, between noon and 8pm for the main event, the Croydon Food & Music Festival. The motorway is closed in both directions between J29 Romford and J30 Dartford as the emergency services fight the blaze. A huge plume of smoke can be seen for miles around after the fire started around 1pm today (August 13). A 16-year-old girl and two boys, aged 14 and 15, have been charged following the death of 49-year-old Alexander Cashford. Police were called to the Warden Bay Road area of Leysdown-on-Sea, on the Isle of Sheppey, shortly after 7pm on Sunday (August 10) following a disturbance involving a small number of people.
